Dr Carlos Alonso - Managing and Medical Director.
Carlos has been working in the field of aviation medicine and medical repatriation for over fifteen years. Born in Spain, where he also graduated, he spent the last few summers of his medical training in the UK on a student exchange program. By the time he qualified, he had gained in-depth experience in surgery and research projects, having been attached to the Cardiac Surgery Unit on an internal student project for 3 years. He came to the UK to continue his training and, having worked in different surgical posts and Emergency Medicine, started working as a flying doctor in 1994. Shortly afterwards, Carlos began supervising medical cases due both to his language abilities in Spanish and English and his experience of working in both the public and private sectors in Spain and the UK. Carlos has undertaken numerous courses in Aviation Medicine, including the Certificate in Aviation Medicine and CCAT. For several years, he was the medical director for another company where he supervised the medical cases, the medical team, teaching and patient's repatriatiations.
Five years ago, he discovered talents as a classical tenor singer. Since then, he has undergone arduous training and has been involved in a number of charity music events. Despite his strong beliefs in the power of music to heal and make people happy, some of his neighbours and close friends are not so sure!
Christopher Mathews - Seniore Nurse Case Manager / Flight Nurse.
Christopher’s clinical background is in Emergency and Trauma Resuscitation. He qualified as a nurse in 1988 and commenced his career in aviation medicine in 1992. He moved to America in 1995 during his time there he worked in the ED setting and repatriating patients on Air Ambulances worldwide. Working in major cities on both coasts as clinical ED Charge Nurse and various senior nursing positions then as Nursing Officer onboard the QE II and QM II cruise ships in 2006. He has credentials in CEN, TNCC , ACLS, PALS and Certified Legal Nurse Consultant (US). Now living back in the UK, working in hospital administration and with EvoloMedica as a flight nurse and medical case manager. With 20 years in the aeromedical repatriation business he finds each case unique and individual and enjoys the challenge that it brings. In his spare time he enjoys to travel, read, attempt to cook, experiment in the garden and watch reality TV while satisfying his addiction to chocolate.
Sarah Webb - Head Linguist.
Following completion of a Master's in Interpreting and Translating, Sarah joined us in 2010. She has over five years experience of using her language skills in a medical setting, having worked both in the field of medical insurance and medical repatriation. Her role involves obtaining medical information and translating medical reports, as well as co-ordinating the medical translation department. Sarah speaks Spanish, Italian, French and Portuguese.
